Scams, Fans and Success

Some unsuspecting authors have received notices that they’ve been nominated for the Pulitzer prize. It’s a scam of course, not only because it requires a ‘handling fee’ but because you don’t need to be nominated.
If you would like to nominate yourself for a Pulitzer fill out this form, pay the required fee (I believe it’s $50) and there your are. Now winning is something else entirely.
If you’re an author overwhelmed by fan mail you can take some inspiration from Robert Heinlein and his form letter response. It may be trickier to use in our internet age, but I’m sure you’re creative. Read more about it here.
Or if you’re feeling low because you’re not a Pulitzer prize nominee or receiving lots of fan mail, read Lynn Emery’s uplifting article about success.
